Stylized Hammer Blender Tutorial
By purchasing this product, you are supporting the channel and the content I work hard to create and share :)
In these videos, I'll show you how to create a stylized chunky hammer and texture it in Blender. Don't worry if you're a beginner, I mainly use primitives and basic shapes; as long as you have the basics of Blender nailed, you should be able to follow along just fine.
Product contents:
- My reference sketch.
- Final Blender files.
What you'll need:
- Blender :)
- Enable these built-in addons: Node Wrangler, LoopTools, Extra Objects (Mesh)
- The reference sketch (provided in the files)
Things you'll be doing and learning:
- Load and place a Reference image in the viewport/s.
- Use Modifiers, such as Subdivision, Mirror, Solidify.
- Edit primitives, such as cubes, cylinders, spheres.
- Use Snapping.
- Use Edit tools, such as Inset, Extrude, Bevel, Edge Loops, etc.
- Create a Metal and Leather materials and apply those to the model.
- Mix materials to create interesting metallic and leather finishes.
- Use Ambient Occlusion in the materials to add more depth and impact to our models look.
- Use Madcaps to inspect your model.
- Use different built-in HDRIs to inspect your model and materials.
- Use texture sets you can find on sites such as AmbientCg.com, and elsewhere. You can download the ones I used at the links below, or use some of your own. *See note below.
- Learn to use Procedural shader nodes, together with images in some places.

*Important note about image texture maps:
Blender saves file paths for any image textures used in materials, so you will likely have to re-point those images to the location where you downloaded and saved the texture maps. By default, Blender will display a bright pink colour if a file is missing, so that's a good clue.
Edit the Image Texture nodes in the Shader Editor.

A two part Blender video tutorial where I model and texture a stylized hammer Thor himself would be proud of.
